different kind of health care

Our focus is you and your family’s health

In addition to Wellness Care, routine visits, and same-day appointments for established patients, we also provide Well-Child Visits (not fully equipped to do vaccinations yet), consultations for vaccination informed consent, and Medicare Annual Wellness Visits, along with DOT/PUC (Department of Transportation/Public Utilities Commission) Physicals and Medical Marijuana Certifications, both of which are non-insurance visits.

We take most all insurances, including Medicare, Medicaid/State, Commercial, and Military. Dr. Doede also accepts Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance.

We also host a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist on site here in Ocean View 3 days a week.

DOEDE DONAUGH

D.O.

Dr. Doede has been on the Big Island since January of 2011 and adores Ka’u. She graduated from NOVA Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine* in Florida in 2004, after completing an extra year of an osteopathic teaching fellowship.

Believing in the gift of the self-healing power of the human body, she applies a whole-person approach to help people live healthier lives, in spirit, soul, and body. She desires to work with patients who want to focus on lifestyle wellness, find the root causes of symptoms and diseases in order to help eliminate or diminish the need for medications, and are looking for an alternative to traditional conventional medicine.

HOKULANI PORTER

RN, MSN, FNP-BC, CNSPH

Hokulani can trace her roots to Ka’u three generations back to her great grandmother.  She herself is born and raised on West O’ahu. She received a dual master’s degree in public health and as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the University of Hawai’i.  She was awarded a Native Hawaiian Scholarship which aimed to increase the numbers of native providers engaging in rural health.  She was assigned to Ka’u Hospital and South Kona for clinical rotations and felt the ‘aina calling her back.

After graduating in 2012, she worked in the family practice setting of federal qualified health centers and studied the social determinants of health and its affect on healthy outcomes.  Hokulani prioritizes the patient experience and weaves the needs of the individual into health promotion interventions that are gender and age specific.

She is married and a mother of 4 children, has a dog and 3 cats.  She moved to the Big Island in 2018 and is enjoying the adventure of farm life, it’s plants, and rural creatures.

Marina Padilla

RN, MSN, AGNP

Marina is certified as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. She began working in the medical field in 2002 in a variety of capacities including HUC/Tele Tech and Medical Assistant. After completing her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology at UNC-Asheville, she obtained her RN/BSN degree from Western Carolina University. Four years later, Marina graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Walden University. She has been practicing as an NP exclusively on the Big Island for the last 7 years and her experiences ranged from rural healthcare to community health care setting, and specialty care in Orthopedics and Pain Management. Her fluency in Russian language has allowed for more culturally-competent care for the growing Slavic community on the Big Island. She has excelled in providing compassionate, individualized care for patients on their unique health journeys. While her approach to healthcare is rooted in the conventional training she has received, she encourages her clients to adapt healthy lifestyles and modifications that minimize medication use. She lives in Kona with her wife Anne, their children, Vinny, Franny, and Leo, and two dogs.
